Hello there and Happy Sunday! I’m super-excited to be blog hopping for the first time today with the Positive Inkers Global Design Team. We are a team of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the globe who love to share our love of creativity. I’m so happy you stopped by today!
If this is the fist time you are visiting, please let me introduce myself. My name is Anne Marie Hile and I live in the greatt state of Texas in the United States. Welcome!
Sandy challenged us with a fun sketch this month for the hop. I LOVE a good sketch challenge to inspire creativity. When I saw this sketch, I immediately got the idea to use the Poinsettia Petals Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® August-December Mini Catalog. I just love all of the layered detail you can create with the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and coordinating Poinsettia Dies. It’s a fantastic set for holiday cards!
*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
I interpreted the sketch with the poinsettia as the focal image and then accented that with the elements in the sketch design. The “triangles" in the sketch were translated to the leaves on the poinsettia and the leafy sprig in the sketch was translated to the die cut “berries” and additional leaf. I popped the banner sentiment in the center of the layout, but did a single banner end because I felt like it fit better on the layout. I hope you like how it came together.
Color Combo:
I kind of wanted a bit of a “shabby-chic” feel to my card and decided to go with non-traditional Christmas colors. I’ve always been a fan of soft pink and green paired with Crumb Cake. I popped in some Champagne Foil and little Vellum for some extra detail. The embossed background really adds an awesome pop of detail and I just love those Beaded Pearls for the flower “centers”.
It’s a little tough to see in the photo but I added Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the layered poinsettia and the leaves for some added sparkle. I also wrapped a piece of lace and twine trim around the Very Vanilla layer. The lace kind of got lost but you can see an itty bitty peek of it on the left side of the card. I was originally going to add a lace bow but it took away from the flower a little, so I opted for a Linen Thread bow instead.
Card Measurements and Details:
- Crumb Cake Card Base: 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
