Shark Frenzy for PP539

Happy Sunday, friends!
Time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Joanne is our fabulous host for the monthly Theme Challenge.
What would make a good “boy card”? Snails, dogs, dinosaurs? Hmmm...I decided that a fun shark card would work. Sharks are cool, right? I mean, they have to be if there is a whole week every year dedicated to them. It’s true! This year, “Shark Week” is August 9-16.

I paired two different stamp sets together for my card: Whale Done, which is in the Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog and Shark Frenzy, which is found in the January-June Mini Catalog. These two stamp sets work really well together. The sentiments from the Whale Done stamp set were a perfect compliment to this sassy shark to create a cute birthday card.

*I’ve listed all of the measurements and details for my card below and there is a full supply list at the very end of this post.
For this card, I did use the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper for the background. Unfortunately this paper is already sold out as it is retiring in a couple of days. So, if you have it, use it. If you don’t, you can simply use the Whale Done stamp set and some inks to stamp out a background and make it work. :)

The Shark Frenzy Bundle also features the Shark Dies which are really fun for creating little underwater scenes. I cut out some little seaweed pieces to accent the colors in the DSP and created a sandy dune for the shark to sit on. I added lots of texture to the card with embossing folders. I wanted to add some ribbon but nothing was really working, so I popped on and little Linen Thread to accent the sentiment and added a trio of “bubbles” as a finishing touch. I really like how this one came out and I hope you do as well.

Finally a peek inside the card! It’s no secret that I love a good, “punny” sentiment and this one just makes me smile. I popped in another pattern of the Whale of a Time DSP and added more little elements to keep the party going from the front of the card.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our Theme Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday May 7th 2021
